(Salamanca, 1983). A pianist, composer, and producer, one of the most versatile and active jazz musicians of his generation. He regularly performs on the European circuit leading his own group or invited by the greatest artists. The classic repertoire, flamenco, and Spanish folklore are sources he takes inspiration from, along with colossal creativity and formidable technique, placing him at the summit of national jazz. He is the first Spaniard to be part of the prestigious German jazz label ACT (Esbjörn Svensson, Nils Landgren, Lars Danielsson, Joachim Kühn, Youn Sun Nah, Jaron Herman…) and he was nominated for the Latino Grammy Awards for Best Album of the Year as producer.
He has released four albums under his own name: Alba (2015), the best jazz album of the year for the magazine Jazz Forum; Samsara, which delves into the roots of folklore, and Travesuras (2019), which was his debut at ACT, followed by Vía de la Plata (2021), whose success in terms of sales and reviews has enshrined him on the European jazz scene. He has performed on some of the most important international stages: Berlin Philharmonic, Philharmonie Luxembourg, Tonhalle Düsseldorf, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Jarasum (South Korea), NDR Jazz Concerts, National Radio Köln, Porgy & Bes Vienna, Unterfhart Munich, Piano Festival Katovice, Bimhuis Amsterdam, Schloss Elmau, A-Trane Berlin, Jazzclub Hannover, Zeche Zollverein Essen and WND Jazz Festival, among others.
He regularly collaborates on concerts and recordings with artists such as Javier Colina, Jorge Drexler, Antonio Lizana, Guillermo McGill, Greg Osby, Juan José Suarez “Paquete”, Jorge Pardo, Juan Parrilla, Alain Pérez, Danilo Pérez, Perico Sambeat, Arturo Sandoval, Antonio Serrano, Becca Stevens, Dhafer Youssef, among others.
As a producer, he received a nomination in 2017 for the best album of the year at the Latin Grammy Awards as producer and arranger of the album Obras son amores by former Ketama member Antonio Carmona. Other projects bearing his hallmark are Lorca, Spanish Songs by Mariola Membrives, and the special collaboration with Marc Ribot (one of the best albums of 2019 according to La Vanguardia), and Una realidad diferente by Antonio Lizana (2020).
Daniel García graduated in piano with the highest grades at the Higher Conservatoire of Music of Castile and León. He completed his training at Berklee College of Music in Boston, with a scholarship from the AIE, where he was awarded the “Best Jazz Performance” award for his activity at the university.
Pablo Martín Caminero
(Vitoria-Gasteiz, 1974). After completing his studies in classical double bass at the Higher School of Music of Vienna, in 1999, he moved to Madrid, where he began his professional career as a performer, composer, arranger, and producer. The diversity of musical styles he works with has led him to collaborate with artists and projects in different genres such as Jorge Pardo, Gerardo Núñez, Dhafer Youssef, Chano Domínguez, “Niño Josele”, Rocío Molina, Enrike Solinís, Rosario “La Tremendita”, Hippocampus and much more jazz, flamenco, early music projects, etc., and advertising campaigns since 2006.
Under his name, he has thus far released six albums and created the soundtrack for three films. In 2016 he brought the show Double Bach to the stage alongside the choreographer Antonio Ruz, in which he performs two suites by J. S. Bach in pizzicato. Also with Antonio Ruz, he has collaborated as a symphonic composer on Electra, for the Spanish National Ballet, and as a composer on In Paradisum, for the National Dance Company. In 2022 he was the musical director of the show Soleá by the great Flamenco dancer María Moreno.
In 2023, he presented a programme with his compositions in Hamburg alongside the prestigious Big Band of the NDR conducted by Geir Lysne.
Borja Barrueta
Born in Bilbao in 1975, at a very early age he began hitting, striking objects and his first drum set was made from a cardboard box, a large cube for storing cement powder and the cage of a canary bird. Since then, he has turned this drive into a way of life and become one of the most sought-after musicians in the country, which has led him to travel around the world playing at important festivals, such as the Monterey Jazz Festival, the Bregenz Festival, Lollapalooza Argentina, and venues such as the Gran Teatro del Liceu Barcelona, the Metropolitan Mexico City and the Carnegie Hall and the Bacon Theatre in New York. His musicality, sensitivity, and personal imprint improvising, have led him to accompany great artists on stage as renowned as Jorge Drexler, Carmen París, Depedro, Javier Colina, Gerardo Nuñez, Perico Sambeat, Jorge Pardo, Ara Malikian, Niño Josele, Joe Lovano, Lionel Loueke, Buika, Antonio Serrano and Moisés P. Sánchez, among others. He has also participated in multiple album recordings, several of which won prizes at the Grammy Awards, alongside producers such as Lee Towsend (Bill Frisell), Suso Saiz, Carlos Raya, Matias Cella, Campi Campón and Juan Campodónico, as well as on recordings for film soundtracks, collaborating with composers such as Alberto Iglesias and Fernando Velázquez.
