Hotel Europa

Hotel Europa is comprised of André Amálio (Portugal) and Tereza Havlíčková (Czech Republic). The two have created documentary-theatre shows that explore the limits between theatre, dance and performance. To this end, they make use of overlapping autobiographical material, family stories, domestic lore, testimonies, interviews and historiographic research. They look at unresolved issues from the recent past such as colonialism, fascism and communism in an attempt to establish ties between the past and the present. Their shows also feature debates regarding recent matters such as migration, environmental problems and gentrification. Hotel Europa has performed in Portugal, Brazil, France, Germany, Spain, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Cape Verde, Colombia, Italy and Uruguay.
