Jonay Mesa

In recent years, this guitarist and producer born in the Canary Islands, has become one of the leading guitarists on the national scene thanks to his musical versatility, refined technique, and a particularly notable musicality.

One of Jonay’s most important musical talents is the mastery of a language that is very unique, and sophisticated but directly reaches the senses, moving us with every note. The harmonic control and resounding rhythmic section influenced by African, Brazilian, Caribbean, and jazz rhythms, make this instrumentalist, a peculiar artist, the kind that undoubtedly makes an impact. In 2014 he spent 2 years living between Mexico, Brazil, and New York where he managed to form part of the local scene. He has also toured around Europe and Latin America.

For over 20 years devoted professionally to the world of music, he has worked with artists as renowned as: Yamandú Costa, Alain Perez, Jonathan Kreisberg, Antonio Lizana, Munir Hosnn, Javier Sánchez, Rycardo Moreno, Big Mountain, Quique Neira, Paula Morelembaum, Elvis Crespo, Mikel Delacalle, Jurandir Santana, among others.

With all of these artists and also in his solo career he has participated in festivals such as the international festival 'Festival Guitarras' in La Ciudad Blanca (Bolivia), the Jazz Festival of the University of Los Andes (Colombia), Jazz Festival of Aguas Calientes (Mexico) Ame Festival (Cape Verde), Cervantes Festival (Senegal), Enclave de agua Festival (Spain), Viña Rock Festival (Spain), Al Rumbo Festival (Spain), Canarias Jazz y Más Festival (Spain), Tensamba Festival (Spain), Maestros en Guitarra (Spain), Rototom Sunplash (Spain), Cabo de Plata Festival (Spain).

Luis Sánchez

Luis Sanchez Guerra is a composer and pianist who was born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. He began his career as a self-taught pianist and improviser, before then working on the fundamentals of jazz at the “Fabrica La Isleta” school, which would serve as support to help him gain a place at the prestigious university “Berklee College of Music” based in Boston, Massachusetts.

He has collaborated on projects with great artists such as Sonah Jobarteh, Trinidad Jimenez, Yul Ballesteros, Jose Angel Vera, y Kai Gibson, among others, and occasionally also in jazz formats both in Boston and in the Canary Islands. He has also participated in groups such as the Municipal Symphony Band of Gran Canaria, and in the group “Ensemble Diario Sonoro” of the bassist and composer Nelson Saavedra, where Luis has served as performer, composer and director. What stands out about Luis Sánchez is his original repertoire, and his solo piano improvisations, which he mostly recorded during his time in Boston.
