Ben Watkins (Juno Reactor) music is known for his cinematic approach, which is far-reaching & culturally varied. From an early age, Ben started out as a classical singer, playing the piano, violin and guitar, it was when he entered the early electronic scene that he began to find his own distinct approach to sound. As a Producer, Artist and Performer, Juno Reactor has forged this collaborative approach, leaving behind the idea of fixed lineups.
Juno Reactor's music has been commissioned by iconic filmmakers, The Wachowski's, Quentin Tarantino, John Hughes… directly scored to picture or synchronised. “The Matrix changed my life from a point of belief, that you can follow what you believe in, even if it is underground music.” “Mona Lisa Overdrive” was the first track I was asked to score for Matrix Reloaded. The Wachowski’s approach to me was so inspiring, always pushing in a positive manner, wanting a bridge between the orchestral sound & the electronic, which was an area I had been working in, fusion, taking colours that ordinarily don’t easily sit next to each other and making them work. Bartok, William Walton, Honegger, D.A.F. Yello, and African & Indian percussion all played their part along with my main collaborator and composer Don Davis, who helped filter my idea’s with his own main themes and knowledge of film scores.
