Winner of three of the world's most prestigious violin competitions - Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, Queen Elisabeth in Brussels and Indianapolis - Marco Rizzi, renowned as one of the most interesting violinists of his generation, was awarded the ‘Europäischer Musikförderpreis’ on the recommendation of Claudio Abbado. He is a regular guest in halls as important as the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Salle Gaveau and Salle Pleyel in Paris, Lincoln Center in New York, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Philharmonic Society in Brussels, Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, Hamburger Musikhalle, Berlin Konzerthaus and Tivoli in Copenhagen. He has worked with conductors as renowned as Jurowski, S. Denéve and G. Neuhold, as a soloist with international orchestras such as Staatskapelle Dresden, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Hong Kong Philharmonic, Orchestre de Concerts Lamoureux, Rotterdam Philharmonic, Orchestra of the Spanish radio RTVE in Madrid, BBC Scottish, Netherlands Philharmonic, Giuseppe Verdi Symphony Orchestra of Milan and Radio Chamber Orchestra Holland, among many others.

An enthusiast of chamber music, Marco Rizzi collaborates with artists such as A. Lucchesini, M. Brunello, E. Dindo, L. Zylberstein, G. Hoffman, N. Imai, M. Fischer-Dieskau, D. Poppen, who have dedicated to him works composed by A. Corghi, L. Francesconi, F. Vacchi, U. Bombardelli, C. Galante, U. Pedraglio and U. Leyendecker, among others.

Marco Rizzi has recorded for labels such as Deutsche Grammophon, Amadeus, Nuova Era, Dynamic and Warehouse.

He teaches at the Reina Sofia Higher School of Music in Madrid, Hochschule für Musik in Detmold, Hochschule in Mannheim, and also at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano. He regularly sits on the jury in important competitions such as the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels, the Joachim Violin Competition in Hannover and the Paganini Violin Competition in Genoa. Many of his pupils have won international competitions.

Marco Rizzi plays the Pietro Guarneri ‘Baron Knoop’ violin of 1743, owned by the ‘Il Canale’ ONLUS Foundation.
