María Cristina Kiehr

voice

Thanks to the spell cast on her by the vocal repertoire of so-called early music – more accurately that of the Renaissance and early Baroque- María Cristina replaced her passion for violin with singing.

From her native Tandil -and after two years in Buenos Aires- she arrived at Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, the mecca of these repertoires at the time.

With the help of her teacher, René Jacobs, she gained the fundamental knowledge to get a start in the hectic life that full dedication to music involves.

She has been privileged to share iconic music and stages with great performers, some of whom are today regarded as pioneers of early music, such as Nikolaus Harnoncourt, René Jacobs, Frans Brüggen, Chiara Banchini, Philippe Herreweghe, Jordi Savall and Christophe Coin, among many others.

At the same time and as co-founder of the Daedalus Ensemble, La Colombina vocal quartet, and the Concerto Soave with Jean-Marc Aymes, she reinforced her artistic identity which allowed her to explore different musical horizons. She premiered contemporary works that, to a certain extent, were dedicated to her. She is currently taking part in new musical projects with vihuela player Ariel Abramovich (Armonía Concertada), and guitarists Pablo Márquez (classic) and Krishnasol Jiménez Moreno (baroque).
