With his immediately recognisable sound and tremendous versatility, Matthieu Saglio has become one of the most passionate cellists of his generation. Classically trained, he was among the first to play cello in a flamenco setting with his group Jerez-Texas, performing in 25 countries over 20 years.
Along with this, Matthieu is often involved in very different kinds of projects as a solo artist, with groups and in special collaborations with numerous artists. In 2015, he formed the trio NES and toured extensively throughout Europe.
His album Ahlam, released in 2018 on the prestigious German label ACT, met with unanimous critical acclaim and registered nearly three million streams on Spotify.
El camino de los vientos was released in 2020, once again on the ACT label. Here Matthieu collaborated with several stellar European jazz musicians. The album was also warmly received by critics around the globe and netted nearly seven million streams on Spotify.
As a composer, he has often been hired for soundtracks in theatre, dance and documentaries. The constant in Matthieu's career has always been his desire to use his cello to converse with other cultures. As a result of his dedication and commitment, he has been named ambassador artist of the Yehudi Menuhín International Foundation.
