Micomicón Teatro

Micomicón Teatro is a Madrid-based theatre company founded in 1991. Over the past thirty-five years, it has staged 32 productions. After an initial decade devoted to the rich and inexhaustible tradition of the Spanish classics, the company began to incorporate original works by Laila Ripoll and Mariano Llorente towards the end of the twentieth century. Since then, its creative horizons have expanded from the classics to contemporary drama.

Micomicón has established itself as a major reference point both for its knowledge and interpretation of Spanish Golden Age theatre and for its work in contemporary drama. The company has created some of the most significant works and productions of its career through an ongoing exploration of Spain’s recent history—a journey marked by political violence, civil wars, colonialism, concentration camps, unhealed wounds, repression and terrorism.

Alongside its national and international tours, Micomicón has delivered courses, workshops and seminars in Spain and Latin America and has received major awards both at home and abroad.
