Paloma Muñoz

choreographer

Choreographer and dancer born in Extremadura and residing in Barcelona. She holds a degree in choreography and interpretation from the Conservatori Superior del Institut del Teatre of Barcelona. As a dancer, she has worked in IT DansaMetros, Ramon Oller, Thomas Noone Dance and Norrdans. In 2016, she launched her own company, Siberia, with the work La piel vacía, which was among the finalists of the Premi de Dansa del Institut del Teatre awards and was awarded in several choreography competitions, such as the Choreographic Competition of Madrid and the CICC Copenhagen International Choreography Competition. The company toured internationally with DanceNet Sweden and received the 2022 Bern Dance Award. Siberia has produced several site-specific creations, such as Blackpool for CaixaForum,  Stone&Silk for Castell de Montjuïc and several works for formal venues. In March 2021, she premiered L.E.V.E., a Light and Easy Vanishing Event at Teatre Auditori de Sant Cugat, coproduced by La Quinzena Metropolitana de la Dansa. In 2022, the work was performed at Mercat de les Flors and the Madrid en Danza festival. At this time, Paloma combines her work with Siberia with freelance choreographic engagements with European companies. In March 2023, she premiered The Station for Theatre Münster. In January 2023, she premiered Ardo, Tiemblo with Balle Bern. During the 2024-25 season, Paloma was a guest choreographer of Tanz Bielefeld (Germany). As an instructor, Paloma has taught classes, workshops and seminars at Danza 180 ° Madrid, Institut del Teatre Barcelona, IEA Oriol Martorell Barcelona, IAB Sitges, Espai La Granja València and D.A.F. Dance Arts Faculty in Rome.
