Born in Barcelona, he studied in Montserrat (Escolanía), Barcelona (Conservatori municipal) and Basil (Schola Cantorum basiliensis). Having spent a long period in Switzerland and Germany, where he was a teacher (Musikhochschule Karslruhe, Hamburger Konservatorium) and gave his first performances, he is now a teacher at Real Conservatorio Superior de Madrid.
He is a member of the viola quintet Banchetto Musicale and an accompanist to many renowned musicians throughout Europe. His recordings as a soloist and with his quintet reflect all these activities (Melisma, Wiesbaden; Arsis, Huesca; EMI Electrola, Claves, Erato, and Hammia mundi, for his collaborations as accompanist). Between 1997 and 2015 he was a member of the jury at the viola da gamba international competition in Kothen (Anhalt), Germany.
He is often requested to perform J.S. Bach’s Passions (Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Uruguay), and his latest obligations as a soloist and as a member of Banchetto Musicale took him to Lemgo, Germany (September, 2016) and Innsbruck (April, 2017).
He is regularly invited to give summer courses both in Spain and abroad. He has several publications on musicology and for the general public. He has performed as a soloist across Europe (from Holland to Estonia) and in Uruguay. He has also been invited to festivals like those in Utrecht, Barcelona or Granada either as a soloist or with Banchetto musicale. In 2016 he was invited to perform with Monica Melkova at the International Festival in Granada.
