Sonido extremo

Ensemble

The Ensemble Sonido Extremo is a group of performers that is committed to the dissemination of culture and art through music. The group, based in Extremadura, defines its activity within reflection about the many languages of music that coexist in our age. Their interests are also focused on that plurality and on the combination of those languages around concepts or ideas that comprise the works, proposing a listening route.

Since their creation in 2009, they have performed at some of the most important cycles and festivals both in and outside Spain: the Cycle of the BBVA Foundation in Bilbao, Series 20/21 of the National Centre for the Promotion of Music (CNDM) in Madrid, the the Donostiarra Music Fortnight, the Santander International Festival, the College of Spain in Paris, the Ensems Festival in Valencia, the season of the Lisbon Higher School of Music E.S.M, the Badajoz Contemporary Music Series, the Segovia Contemporary Music Days, the Contemporary Music Days in Santiago de Compostela, the Vostell Museum Festival and the Moderna Festival in Valencia. They have had world premieres of over 60 works, collaborating very closely with composers such as José Río-Pareja, Inés Badalo, Jesús Rueda and Mikel Urquiza.

The engagements of the 2022-2023 season include the world premiere of the opera La paz perpetua, with music by the composer José Río-Pareja and a libretto by the playwright Juan Mayorga; concerts coproduced by the National Centre for the Promotion of Music (CNDM) in Madrid (Series 20/21), Badajoz (Contemporary Music Cycle) and Segovia (Contemporary Music Days); or the participation in the Chamber Cycle of the Auditorio de Tenerife Tenerife; all alongside prestigious artists such as the countertenor Xavier Sabata and the soprano Sarah Defrise.

It is worth highlighting that Sonido Extremo has received extraordinary reviews that have regularly highlighted both their high level of performance and the originality, risk, and strength of their proposals.

Jordi Francés is its artistic and musical director.
