Distinguished with the National Award for Performing Arts for Children and Youth of 2012, the Teatro Paraíso company has a solid 40-year history on stage. Four decades in which the company has consolidated a cultural structure which carries out a global intervention project related to theatre, childhood, and artistic education and undertakes continuous creation and training initiatives for audiences from Álava. Recognised in the sector as an innovative company in terms of its subject matter, formats, and way of working, Teatro Paraíso has always opted for quality and continuous improvement, establishing an ongoing commitment to the public, society, and the profession.

 

This company's repertoire stands out for its constant innovation in terms of subject matter, formats, and audiences and it includes some of the most significant contemporary stage pieces for children on the European scene. Among its productions, the following stand out: "Kikerikiste" by Paul Maar (Germany, 1987), "De todo corazón" ("From the heart") by Joan Praest Linde (Denmark, 1990), "Zapatos rojos" ("Red shoes") by Tiziana Lucatini (Italy, 1993), "En el Jardín" ("In the garden) by Charlotte Fallon (Belgium, 2005), "El Flautista Mágico" ("The magic piper") by Claudio Casadio (Italy, 2009), and "Vuela si puedes" ("Soar if you Can") by Mathias Simons (Belgium, 2010). The company maintains an Europeanist outlook towards collaboration with centres in various countries; thus, it has co-produced and collaborated internationally in recent years with Bjoneteatred of Denmark, Théâtre de la Guimbarde of Belgium, La Baracca, Testtoni Ragazzi and Accademia Perduta-Romagna Teatri of Italy.
