The Black Heritage Choir, a selection of singers from The Mississippi Mass Choir, the most legendary traditional gospel choir, are bringing back to Europe the best vibes of the music that we all wait to hear at Christmas time.
JERRY CALVIN SMITH, director, pianist and arranger.
Founding member and musical director of the Mississippi Mass Choir, producer and composer of many of the songs that have made the choir a legend of traditional American gospel music. Since 1983 his record label has been Malaco/Savoy Music Group, the world's most important gospel music label. He has performed in the most prestigious concert halls of the United States and has been a regular presence in the European Christmas season since 1996.
KATIE GRAHAM, soloist
A native of Jackson, Mississippi. She studied at Jackson State University and subsequently moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where she currently resides. In her native Jackson, she began singing at the Greater Fairview Missionary Baptist Church. In December 2005 she participated in the global première of “The Sound of Gospel” and was nominated for the Grammy Awards. Just like Mr Jerry Calvin Smith, she is part of the award-winning Mississippi Mass Choir. With this group, she has performed and recorded with artists as renowned as Canton Spirituals, Rev. James Moore and the Williams Brothers.
