The Orotava, XIX de Marzo de San Juan de la Rambla and Puerto de la Cruz bands will give a concert
The Chamber Hall of the Auditorio de Tenerife will host three bands from the northern part of the island this Sunday (7th), from 11.30 am, as part of the Primavera Musical series, organised by the Tenerife Federation of Music Bands in collaboration with the Island Council. The concert will feature performances by the Orotava, XIX de Marzo de San Juan de la Rambla and Puerto de la Cruz bands. Admission is free until full capacity is reached.
Founded in 1842, the Orotava Music Band will open this week’s concert. Led by Julio Castañeda, the ensemble of over 60 musicians will perform at the Auditorio de Tenerife, presenting Cantos Canarios by Teobaldo Power and selections from the zarzuela La Gran Vía by Federico Chueca and Joaquín Valverde.
The second ensemble to take the stage of the Chamber Hall will be the Agrupación Musical XIX de Marzo from San Juan de La Rambla, with over forty years of history. Damián González García will conduct 40 musicians in works by Enrique López (Antón Alcalde), Baba Yetu (Johnie Vinson), and Pini di Roma (Ottorino Respighi).
The Agrupación Musical Puerto de La Cruz, celebrating 125 years of ongoing activity, will close Sunday’s concert under the direction of Pedro Aitor Alonso Campoy. Their program includes three pieces, namely De Banda en Banda by José Manuel Encinoso, Festa Paesana by Jacob de Haan, and Coco by Eduardo Moreno.
The next Primavera Musical event will be held on 14 June at 11:00 am, featuring performances by four bands: Amigos del Arte (Güímar), Santísimo Cristo de El Calvario (El Tanque), Crearte (Tejina, La Laguna), and Amigos del Arte (San Andrés, Santa Cruz). This year’s series will conclude on 21 June at 11:00 am with performances by La Candelaria (Arafo), the Los Realejos Philharmonic (El Salvador, La Matanza), and the El Hierro Island Council Band as a guest ensemble.
