The MAPAS project provides access to key international languages of contemporary scene, with a particular focus on dance in this edition.
The 2026 edition of MAPAS (Market of Performing Arts of South Atlantic) presents an international dance programme distinguished by its aesthetic rigour. The selection comprises works that examine the body as an emotional, theatrical, and narrative medium and, collectively, create a curated itinerary. This pathway incorporates a range of contemporary responses to a unifying inquiry: what may the body express onstage when confronted with the themes of intimacy, collectivity, fiction, and the passage of time.
In this way, MAPAS enhances this season’s offerings of the Auditorio de Tenerife with a mechanism of contrast and continuity: a concentration of international languages that engages in dialogue with the creation of territory and strengthens our understanding of ecosystem. It is not only about presenting international excellence but activating a framework for interpretation in which Canarian dance—and the accompanying processes over the year, including artist residencies—may align in direct contact with some of the most relevant approaches of the contemporary scene: extreme physicality, expanded playwriting, hybridisation with theatre and tradition reformulated as contemporaneity.
From 30 June to 24 July 2026, MAPAS will present six large-scale dance performances. In addition to general admission tickets priced at 15 euros, the Auditorio de Tenerife offers two subscription options: one granting access to all six performances and another permitting attendance at three performances of the patron’s choosing.
