Students and professionals perform 'Carmina Burana' this Saturday 16th of May at 12 noon

The Chamber Hall of the Auditorio de Tenerife will present a new initiative by the Professional Music Conservatoire of Tenerife this Saturday (16th), at 12 noon, following an agreement reached between the Island Councillor for Culture Affairs, José Carlos Acha, and the Conservatoire’s director, Cristina Vargas. Entry is free until full capacity is reached.

This performance of Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana provides conservatory students with a singular experience that enriches their musical training. Carmina Burana anchors the modern choral-symphonic repertoire, standing out for its expressive richness, musical complexity, and the interpretive challenges it presents to performers.

The Percussion Group of the Professional Music Conservatoire of Tenerife joins forces with the choral ensemble Coro Contemporáneo de Tenerife. This collaboration offers chamber music that allows students to perform alongside a top-tier choral group. Pianist Laura Gordo, a teacher at the Professional Music Conservatoire, adds depth to the performance. Guest soloists include Candelaria González Torres and Jorge Cordero, fellow professors at the conservatoire, as well as Andrés Darío, a student from the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Canarias. Their involvement adds artistic and educational value beyond the classroom and creates an invaluable musical learning journey for all students.

The concert features musical direction by Emilio Díaz and the Tenerife Contemporary Choir led by chorus-master Esther Wagenaar, and will also include pianist Romarey Cabrera, a Conservatoire student.

The Auditorio de Tenerife’s collaboration with the Professional Music Conservatoire of Tenerife kicked off in April this year with the Orquesta de Cuerda Pulsada, and continues with student involvement in the exciting new edition of the Tenerife Contemporary Music Festival (FMUC), taking place from 29 May to 7 June.
