Synopsis

Aranza Coello will undertake an artist residency focusing on research and playwriting in the La Salita hall from 1 to 5 June. A public presentation of La voracidad (entre vampiros y zombies) (Voracity – among vampires and zombies) has been scheduled for 5 June at 7.30 p.m. Admission is free until capacity is reached.

What is territory? How do we deal with it? What are its limits and rules of membership? What do visitor, resident and tourist mean? Does this classification define and determine the uses of territory? Does that discriminating view change us insofar as rights and obligations? What is the footprint of cultural expropriation in a community? How does the projected image of a territory shape and exert pressure on bodies that must construct and maintain that image?

These and many other questions are the point of departure of Aranza Coello’s slow-cooked exploration of a script to be published in June 2026. As in her previous projects, the creator’s search includes people involved with the subject matter through their fields of study or employment, in order to share their points of view. In this case, the open sessions of encounters and reflections will feature participants involved in the use of territory and touristification.

This is about creation based on listening to a community; about impregnating the creation of voices that speak of their times or in different languages and forms; about letting the process itself—in a communicative effort—, being in and of itself a generator of reflection and encounter for all those engaged in it; about trying to use this form of creation or of writing as an exercise in resistance and hope.

Aranza Coello proposes an encounter for play and for sharing experiences and visions of the tourism industry. It is not a talk or a class, but a space for another form of expressing our view of how territory is used.
