Orquesta de Cuerda Pulsada
Synopsis
Auditorio de Tenerife has scheduled in its Chamber Hall a concert of Orquesta de Cuerda Pulsada de la Provincia de Santa Cruz (Plucked String Orchestra of the Province of Santa Cruz) of the Professional Conservatory of Music of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
The Orquesta de Cuerda Pulsada de la Provincia de Santa Cruz de Tenerife was formed as an educational, artistic, and cultural project to promote and appreciate the musical value of plucked string instruments in Canarian culture. In an ensemble format, the initiative unites guitar and timple students from the Professional Conservatory of Music of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and from other schools in the province, providing young performers with an opportunity to meet, learn and collaborate.
Organised by the conservatory’s Departamento de Cuerda Pulsada (Department of Plucked String Instruments), the project gives students direct access to orchestral experience. It promotes collective work, mutual listening, and shared musical development. The orchestra is a space for education where students expand their performance experience, grow their repertoires, and strengthen their musical identities.
Art director Miguel García Ferrer pairs teaching with an artistic vision to shape a cohesive sound and advance members’ expression.
The concert in the Chamber Hall of the Auditorio de Tenerife will publicly present the work students have been preparing over months of rehearsal. The project contributes to students’ training and encourages the development of new generations of performers. It focuses on musical dialogue between timple and guitar within an orchestral setting.
