The wind ensembles from Santa Úrsula, La Victoria and Fasnia join the ‘Primavera Musical’ concert cycle

As part of the Primavera Musical concert cycle, organised by the wind bands federation ‘Federación Tinerfeña de Bandas de Música’ with the support of the Tenerife Island Council, a new event will take place this Sunday (May 10) at 11.30 a.m. in the Chamber Hall of the Auditorio de Tenerife, with performances by the ensembles Ernesto Beteta (Santa Úrsula), La Victoria de Acentejo and Fasnia.

Under the direction of Miguel Ángel Expósito Marrero, the wind band Asociación Músico-Cultural Ernesto Beteta from Santa Úrsula will present a three-piece programme. Marking three decades of the band’s history, the performance will open with Candelaria Marrero Tejera by Ferrer Ferrán, followed by Highlights from Hook by John Williams, and will culminate in Frenesí by Alberto Domínguez.

Next on the Chamber Hall stage is the wind band of La Victoria, founded in 1922 and conducted by Humberto García Afonso. Their programme features Carmina Burana by Carl Orff (arr. Jay Bocook), followed by The Godfather Saga by Coppola and Nino Rota (arr. Marcel Peeters), culminating with Can’t Take My Eyes Off You by B. Crewe and B. Gaudio (arr. Johan de Meij), with Carmen María de Luis Fumero appearing as the soloist.

Bringing Sunday’s concert to a close is the ensemble Patronato Artístico y Musical of Fasnia, founded in 1985. Led by Mateu González Rodríguez, the wind band will take the stage at the Auditorio de Tenerife with three pieces from its repertoire: Suspiros de España by A. Álvarez, Highlights from Exodus (arr. Alfred Reed), and Abba Gold (arr. Rob Segregts).

Next week, the Auditorio will host two sessions of wind bands. In the morning, at the usual time of 11.30 a.m., performances will be given by the bands Esperanza (La Guancha), Unión y Amistad (Santa Cruz) and San Marcos (Tegueste). In the afternoon, at 6.00 p.m., Las Candelas (Candelaria) and San Pedro (El Sauzal) will take the stage. These two ensembles had originally been scheduled to perform on 22 March, but the concert had to be cancelled due to the activation of Tenerife’s Island Emergency Plan (PEIN).

‘Primavera Musical’ is an initiative of the Wind Bands Federation, ‘Federación Tinerfeña de Bandas de Música’ since 2005 and has enjoyed the continued support of the Tenerife Island Council. Through this initiative, audiences can enjoy performances by member bands of the federation in the Chamber Hall of the Auditorio de Tenerife.
