Synopsis

As part of its Chamber Music Cycle, the Auditorio de Tenerife welcomes the Swiss ensemble CHAARTS. Founded in 2010 at the renowned Künstlerhaus Boswil, Switzerland’s celebrated centre for musical creation and performance, CHAARTS has earned an international reputation for its artistic excellence, captivating audiences with exceptional virtuosity and compelling musical intensity. The ensemble describes itself as “the world’s largest string quartet”, bringing together up to thirty-five chamber musicians in a unique formation. Regularly joined by distinguished soloists and principal wind players from Europe’s leading orchestras, CHAARTS consistently delights audiences and frequently receives standing ovations.

The ensemble’s repertoire spans more than four centuries, from the seventeenth century to the present day. Guided by the motto “making the big small and the small big”, CHAARTS presents large-scale symphonic works in intimate chamber arrangements of twelve to nineteen musicians, while also expanding chamber works into richly textured larger ensembles. This imaginative approach invites audiences to rediscover familiar masterpieces from a fresh perspective, while making them accessible to smaller concert halls and chamber music series.

CHAARTS has collaborated with an outstanding roster of internationally acclaimed artists, including Elīna Garanča, Lucas Debargue, Jonathan Tetelman, Martha Argerich, Vilde Frang, Ian Bostridge, Camille Thomas, Giovanni Sollima, Mischa Maisky, Fazıl Say, Regula Mühlemann, David Orlowsky, Felix Klieser, Avi Avital and The King’s Singers.
