Cerebro
Synopsis
La Salita is staging Cerebro, a play by Teatro Niño Proletario, directed by Francisco Medina. Following Friday’s opening performance, there will be a discussion with the audience.
Cerebro (Brain) explores the fragility and complexity of the human brain. The project is being developed in collaboration with performer Jorge Becker, who has been living for more than a decade with the after-effects of a virus that severely affected his cognitive, physical and visual abilities.
Through a performance-based theatrical game, Cerebro explores Jorge’s experience of his own cerebral reality. The audience plays an active role, using their mobile phones to determine the order of the scenes, the songs and the action.
Audiences attending Cerebro are strongly encouraged to attend the dramatised reading of Neva beforehand as an introduction to the dramaturgical context of the work. Both productions are directed by Francisco Medina Donoso.
It is recommended that audiences attending Cerebro attend the dramatised reading of Neva beforehand. Jorge Becker, the lead artist in Cerebro, starred alongside his company in a production of Neva over 15 years ago. The dramatized reading of Neva is conceived as an activity linked to the Cerebro production; both are directed by Francisco Medina Donoso, with the aim of offering an insight into the artistic vision and the underlying premise that runs through it.
