Orlando

Ópera de Tenerife presents George Frideric Handel’s Orlando, an opera in three acts that tells the story of a soldier’s emotional upheaval.

Orlando’s resolve falters when his surroundings demand heroism, firmness, and control. He loves, suffers, and goes mad. His sensitivity clashes with the warrior’s image that everyone expects. Orlando’s collapse reveals his fragility and the system’s refusal to accept nuance. This is relevant today. In a time of harsh words, closed identities, and scant passion, people hide their vulnerability. Orlando becomes a body that cannot bear its assigned role. He is a shout that nobody wants to hear.

This opera will be performed with singing in Italian and overtitles in Spanish and English.
